Business-grade internet solutions are measured on network reliability; however, there are different considerations depending on your specific business requirements. First, a primary internet service based on your network preferences and availability to provide a reliability within your location. Second, the former with a backup line, activated should the primary circuit fail or if a disruption or power outage occurs – support of your primary circuit with an additional failover is strongly advised, however, optional. These should be via diverse networks – e.g. primary from BT Wholesale and the failover from Colt. Finally, a completely diverse and resilient provision, whereupon both the primary and failover (secondary circuit) are presented by separate exchanges and access points to the premises. This is also known as an RO2 and offers the surest means of keeping your business connectivity active at all times.
Leased Line Internet Solutions: A leased line is a private telecommunications circuit available between two or more locations to connect geographically distant places. It can speed up to 10Gb per second and can be accessed by multiple users at the same time. The optic cable can send data as fast as 70% of the speed of light. TWC’s leased line solutions include brands such as Virgin Media, BT Wholesale, TalkTalk or Colt with contract lengths up to 36 months.
Fibre Broadband Solutions: This solution includes technologies such as Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) that uses copper wire and is a broadband most commonly set up. It uses existing street cabinets; therefore, it is a cost-effective solution and widely accessible in the UK. When discussing Fibre Broadband, it’s essential to mention Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), an internet running directly from the provider. As opposed to FTTC, it uses all fibre optic, making it able to reach speeds up to 1Gbps.
Standard Broadband Solutions: Standard broadband solutions are commonly described as ADSL – a digital subscriber line. It builds upon existing copper phone lines to send and receive information. An ADSL-based internet connection requires a phone line to be installed first and the infrastructure built around it.
